Founder & Principal Consultant, North Star Health Equity Consulting, LLC
Natalie V. Berbick, MSW is a dynamic public health leader and social work professional with over 19 years of experience advancing equity-driven solutions across government, healthcare, and community systems. As the Founder and Principal Consultant of North Star Health Equity Consulting, LLC, Natalie partners with organisations to design strategies that eliminate disparities, strengthen families, and build equitable systems of care.
Currently serving as Family, Maternal, and Child Health Director for Contra Costa Health Services, Natalie oversees multimillion-dollar programs that improve outcomes for women, infants, and families. She has successfully managed over $5 million in public health budgets and led cross-sector collaborations that have become models for other counties across California. Her leadership has shaped innovative programs such as the Perinatal Equity Initiative, Black Infant Health Program, and the Deliver Birth Justice public awareness campaign.
Natalie’s approach blends strategic planning, policy advocacy, and evidence-based evaluation with deep community engagement. She is recognized for her ability to turn complex systemic challenges into actionable, data-informed solutions that advance health justice.
A respected thought leader in maternal and child health, Natalie has served as a featured speaker at the California Black Birth Equity Summit, a statewide advisory member for the California Department of Public Health, and a guest lecturer in the UC San Francisco Family Medicine Residency Program. She has been cited in published works—including op-eds in CalMatters and The Mercury News—highlighting her ongoing commitment to racial justice, reproductive equity, and community voice in public health. Natalie earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, specializing in the Management of Human Services and Social Policy & Evaluation, and her Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley, with a minor in African American Studies
